If you’re in the market for a new Chevy truck, you may be trying to decide between the Colorado and the Silverado 1500. With great features packed into both models, it’s a tough decision. Head to your local Chevy dealership to take a closer look and book a test drive.

Power and Capacity
The Colorado is a midsize truck that’s ideal for driving around the city while still offering a hefty towing and hauling capacity. The base trim comes with a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. There is an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive as standard, with four-wheel drive available as an upgrade. When fully equipped, the Colorado can tow up to 7700 lbs.
In contrast, the Silverado 1500 is a full-size pickup that’s designed for the heftier jobs. The base WT trim has the same engine and output, but with the larger frame, the standard towing capacity climbs to an impressive 9500 lbs. Upgrading the engine to either the 6.2-liter V8 or the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel, adding the trailering package and selecting the right configuration increases the towing capacity to around 13,300 lbs.
Interior Technology
There’s an impressive amount of tech included as standard in the entry-level Colorado WT. This includes an 11.3-inch touchscreen and an 11-inch digital driver display, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Google is integrated into the system to manage voice commands, navigation, and access to apps.
The Silverado 1500 WT has a smaller 7-inch touchscreen and basic smartphone connectivity. To get similar features to the Colorado, you’ll need to move up through the trim levels to the LT, RST, or High Country.
Cargo and Bed Options
The Colorado is available with a crew cab configuration and a single bed size of 61.7 inches. The same bed size and configuration are included on all other Colorado trims, with no further options available. There are available additional features across the various trims, such as an integrated bedliner and extra cargo tie-downs, to provide further flexibility.
There is more variety with the Silverado 1500, with regular, double, and crew cab configurations all offered as standard. It’s also possible to choose between short, standard, and long bed lengths.
